Lac hong university achieves abet accreditation for two engineering technology programmes

Dong Nai, January 9 – Lac Hong University (LHU) has officially received ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accreditation for two of its academic programs: Information Technology Engineering Technology and Electrical - Electronics Engineering Technology.

This achievement is the result of over three years of efforts since LHU initiated the accreditation process according to ABET standards, following its attainment of AUN-QA (ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance) accreditation in 2019. Throughout this journey, the university received support from the BUILD-IT project and valuable guidance from experts in the United States, enabling LHU to gradually enhance its training programs, improve assessment methods, and particularly refine the measurement of learning outcomes.

By October 2022, LHU had successfully completed the ABET quality accreditation process with no identified weaknesses. Notably, the university's self-assessment report was selected by ABET as a model for other institutions to study and learn from.

Drawing from the valuable experiences gained during the ABET accreditation process, LHU has further refined its learning outcomes measurement system and successfully developed a specialized software tool. This software is now being used to measure learning outcomes across all academic programs at the university.

Achieving ABET accreditation serves as a clear testament to the quality of education at Lac Hong University, demonstrating its compliance with international standards and enhancing job opportunities for its graduates. Specifically, students graduating from ABET-accredited programs will have their qualifications internationally recognized, increasing their employment prospects and opportunities for residency in various countries, particularly in the United States.

Finally, LHU’s ABET accreditation underscores its commitment to sustainable development, aligning with SDG4, SDG8, and SDG9. By achieving international standards, the university enhances educational quality, improves graduate employability, and fosters innovation, contributing significantly to a sustainable and globally competitive future.
