Faculty of Civil Engineering organized the contest "CIVIL IDEA 2023"

With the purpose of creating many academic courses to help students practice their skills after stressful studying hours. Create opportunities for exchange between branches and students of all classes.

 

Faculty of Civil Engineering Organized the competition “CIVIL IDEA 2023” with the theme “HOUSING ADAPTABLE TO CLIMATE CHANGE”.

- Time08:00 - 11:30day December 9, 2023.

- LocationRoom I107, Facility 6.

1. Contest rules:

- Each group of 02 students registers to do the project. 

- Determine the nature and climate characteristics of 1 of 2 areas:

      + Areas affected by flooding due to storms in the Central - Central Highlands;

      + South Central dry region;

- Propose appropriate architectural solutions to adapt to climate change issues: storms, tornadoes, floods, droughts...

- Implement the model on paper;

2. Content: Represented in accordance with regulations on technical drawings

- Design land area: 30m x 20m.

- Maximum construction density: 60%.

- Construction height: 02 floors.

- Overall: garden, trees, lake...

- Ground floor includes rooms: lobby, living room, kitchen, 01 bedroom, bathroom, garage, storage...

- The upper floor includes rooms: 01 main bedroom, 03 bedrooms, altar room.

3. Contest products

3.1 Notes and drawings: 

1. Cover sheet;

2. Present your energy saving ideas and solutions on Powerpointfile (maximum 10 slides);

3. Perspective (model photography);

4. Overall plan, scale 1/200;

5. Floor plan (02 floors), scale 1/100;

6. Vertical facades (minimum 02 sides), scale 1/100;

7. Cross-sections (at least 01 face), scale 1/50;

8. Details (minimum 05 details), scale 1/10 - 1/20.

3.2. Model: Material: hard paper, wood, mica... scale 1/100 (required).

4. Scoring criteria

Aesthetics, structural feasibility: accounts for 70% of the score.

Presentation: Each team will prepare a presentation within 03 minutes to present the structure they have implemented. Currently, the presentation will be graded by the jury, accounting for 30% of the score.

In this year, students registered 02 members to carry out the topic: Determine the nature and characteristics of the climate of flood zones in the Central Region - Central Highlands and the drought-stricken South Central region, then propose appropriate architectural solutions to adapt to these conditions. Climate change issues: rainstorms, tornadoes, floods, droughts...  

After preliminary examination, the organizers selected 14 topics to participate in ranking and competing for prizes. Attending and advising the competition were Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung - Deputy Head of the Faculty and MSc. Architect Dinh Van Binh - Ho Chi Minh City Department of Architecture and Planning.
