The IBE Conference is a prestigious academic forum that encourages fresh, creative, and critical perspectives in education. The 6th IBE Conference took place from October 14–15, 2025, at Durham University—consistently ranked among the Top 3 universities in the UK and the Top 100 globally (QS World University Rankings).

This marks the second time Ms. Phụng has been invited to the IBE Conference, following her successful in-person presentation at Durham in 2022.

Although unable to attend in person this year, Ms. Phụng’s research was presented by a highly influential figure in the field: Dr. James Underwood, Academic Director for English Language Assessment and Coaching programs at the University of Cambridge (UK).

This special endorsement is not only a great honor but also confirms the strong collaborative ties between the Cambridge academic community and Vietnam in the field of language education research.

The Presented Research:
Topic: “Re-examining the Role of Global Textbooks in Higher Education: A Case Study from Vietnam.”
The paper examines the use of global English textbooks within the context of Vietnamese universities, highlighting the urgent need for cultural and level-appropriate adaptations for learners. The research offers a timely Asian perspective, asserting that Vietnamese classrooms and lecturers possess unique insights that deserve global recognition.

Inspirational Quote from Ms. Đoàn Kim Phụng:

"Bringing Vietnamese research to the world is not just about proving we can keep up with international standards—it is about asserting that Vietnamese classrooms, lecturers, and students have something distinct and meaningful to say, and deserve to be heard in the global dialogue."

Once again, we congratulate Ms. Phụng on this impressive international academic achievement. This is a tremendous source of inspiration, reaffirming the research capabilities and global vision of the FEL faculty.
